EDUCATION/WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT

 

SMIG views the educational system as a vital part of consistent personal and economic growth. 

 

SMIG recognizes that the future of Louisiana and its business community is directly related to the quality of education our children receive.

 

SMIG has historically supported efforts to provide a quality education for our area youth. 

 

SMIG awards an annual scholarship in the amount of $4,000 to help make a college education financially possible for a promising young student who has exhibited academic and overall excellence in accomplishment.

SMIG serves as an advocate for the Louisiana Community and Technical College System.

 

SMIG awards annual scholarship funds to be used to assist deserving students attending Louisiana Technical College-Young Memorial Campus .  

 

In observation of Teacher Appreciation Week, outstanding educators from St. Mary Parish were invited guests of SMIG at the May 2008 general membership luncheon.  The teachers also received roses and a special thank you note for attending the luncheon.
