SMIG
ACTIVITIES
SMIG strives to enhance the climate for business and
industry and to improve the quality of life in the St. Mary Parish area. SMIG monitors local and state tax issues and legislation
that may impact businesses. SMIG will voice its opinion in support of the issues
that would create a positive impact on business and industry. SMIG will address its concerns with the appropriate
parties regarding decisions that may have a negative impact on the business
community. SMIG recognizes the importance of training for the
offshore oil and gas industry and the enhancement of tourism and recreation. SMIG provides ongoing monitoring of the quality of
educational programs and medical facilities in the area as well as economic,
health and safety issues. SMIG members have traveled to SMIG has launched successful billboard and bumper
sticker campaigns and has urged members of the organization and the community
to vote for or against amendments that would impact the people of the
area. SMIG supports efforts that will create: v More
efficient, cost-effective and fiscally responsible operation of government v A more
