The St. Mary Industrial Group (SMIG) is a non-profit organization of business and industry that incorporated in the State of Louisiana in 1975. The organization functions primarily as a political action group focusing its efforts on community needs in the area of industrial, economic and employee/ employer concerns in St. Mary Parish.
SMIG views the educational system as a vital part of consistent personal and economic growth and recognizes that the future of Louisiana and its business community is directly related to the quality of education our children receive.
SMIG strives to enhance the climate for business and industry and to improve the quality of life in St. Mary Parish. We monitor local and state tax issues and legislation that may impact businesses. We will voice our opinion in support of the issues that would create a positive impact on business and industry, and will address our concerns with the appropriate parties regarding decisions that may have a negative impact on the business community.
SMIG recognizes the importance of training for the offshore oil and gas industry and the enhancement of tourism and recreation. We provide ongoing monitoring of the quality of educational programs and medical facilities in the area as well as economic, health and safety issues.

The St. Mary Industrial Group (SMIG) serves over 150 businesses and professionals and over 10,000 of their employees along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana.
Members of SMIG are ensured of having a viable voice and participation in the political and economic culture of the community.
Guest speakers are chosen from local, state and national political leaders, as well as industrial leaders who bring current events and informative topics before the membership.
Our annual golf tournament, held in March of each year, is a major fundraiser that supports programs related to infrastructure, economic development, education and coastal restoration. Funds raised also provide a $4,000.00 four-year scholarship to a qualified high school graduate.
